There are mainly three types for Graphite tower – packed tower, sieve plate tower, bubble tray column.
Towers are mainly used for absorbing condensing, distilling, evaporating, filtering and washing the organic products, as hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid and other corrosive medium.
As per the manufacturing method, it has mainly three types: packed tower, bubble tray column, sieve plate tower. The diameter can be from 300 mm to 2500 mm. We can produce it as per user’s drawing, we can also design it as per user’s request.
We can do it by impermeable graphite (impregnated) or by teflon. The following introduction are on basis of impermeable graphite.
1. Graphite packed tower: it is composed of perforated plates, packings and showering devices. Ascending gas transfers heat to the packings it contacts with, and the packings are cooled by liquid shower. Graphite packing tower is suitable for gas absorption or washing. Tower plate number is customizable.
2. Bubble tray column: It is a foaming plate type tower. Gas or steam through the cap on the tray come into contact with the liquid on the plate in dispersing method. Its structure is complicated. It consists of column body, bubble cap, overfall dam, falling liquid tube, etc. the bubble cap is the most important part.
3. Sieve plate tower. Also called plate tower. Many small holes are drilled on the plate inside the tower. When the gas comes through the holes, the liquid on the plate was foamed by the gas, this means the gas come into contact with the liquid in more area. This type is a simple structure, easily produced, lower cost than bubble tray column. And its treated quantity and effective is better than bubble tray column. But it is not fitful for the situation when the gas and liquid is on loading. And the small holes will be easily blocked. This is its disadvantage.
KK Note: the showed picture is a bubble tray.
